What Is the Army Fitness Test?

The Army Fitness Test became the Army's physical fitness test of record on June 1, 2025, replacing the ACFT. This new Army Fitness Test has five primary events, each worth up to 100 points. The current AFT standards 2026 users need are the official tables approved May 15, 2025 and still linked by the Army in 2026—not a newly invented “2026 table.”

General standard

Age- and sex-normed

General scores use the Army table column for the selected age group and sex. A passing result requires at least 60 points in every event and at least 300 points total.

Combat standard

Age-normed, sex-neutral

Combat scores use the table's M/C column for all soldiers. A passing result requires at least 60 points in every event and at least 350 points total.

A note on age 62

The official score table labels its final group “Over 62” and does not assign exact age 62 in the printed headings. This site reproduces that label rather than guessing; confirm the applicable group through official Army guidance if you are exactly 62.

04 / Historical context

AFT vs. the 2022 ACFT

The 2022 Army Combat Fitness Test used six events and a 600-point maximum, including the Standing Power Throw. The current AFT uses five primary events and a 500-point maximum. Because one former event is absent and the scoring structures differ, five current results cannot produce a valid numerical 2022 ACFT score. This calculator therefore shows a comparison notice—not a fabricated conversion.

AFT Calculator FAQ

These answers separate official thresholds from interpretation. Check the linked Army publications before using any estimate for an official decision.

01What is a good AFT score?

The Army does not publish a universal AFT category called “good.” Officially, a passing General score requires at least 60 points in each of the five events and at least 300 points total. The Combat standard requires the same 60-point event minimum and at least 350 total points. A higher score can show stronger performance against the published scale, but it is not an official qualitative grade. Use your event scores to identify training priorities, and use current Army policy—not an unofficial label—for personnel decisions, requirements, or consequences.

02Is 403 a good AFT score?

A total of 403 is above the official 300-point General minimum and the 350-point Combat minimum. It is a passing total only when every one of the five events also scores at least 60 points; a single 59-point event means the test does not meet the standard, even with 403 overall. The Army’s current publications do not assign a universal “good” label to 403, so that description is personal rather than official. Review the five event scores, applicable standard, age group, and scoring column before interpreting the result.

03How is the AFT scored?

The AFT has five primary events worth up to 100 points each, for a 500-point maximum. Raw results are matched to the official score table for the selected age group and applicable M/C or female column. General scoring is age- and sex-normed. Combat scoring is age-normed and sex-neutral, using the M/C column. A General pass requires 60 or more in every event and 300 or more overall; Combat requires 60 per event and 350 overall. This calculator uses published discrete thresholds and does not invent values between table entries.

04What is the difference between AFT and ACFT?

The current Army Fitness Test replaced the Army Combat Fitness Test as the test of record on June 1, 2025. The 2022 ACFT had six events, included the Standing Power Throw, and had a 600-point maximum. The current AFT has five primary events and a 500-point maximum, with separate General and Combat standards. The event mix, total scale, and policy rules therefore differ. Five present-day AFT results cannot be converted reliably into a historical six-event ACFT score, so this site does not provide a numerical 2022 conversion.

05Where can I find my AFT score?

Official Army training records are maintained in the Army Training Information System, commonly called ATIS. DA Form 705-TEST is used to record physical fitness test results on test day. This unofficial calculator neither connects to ATIS nor retrieves personnel records, so the number shown here is only a local estimate based on the values you enter. For an official recorded score, use the Army-approved record available to you or contact the appropriate unit training or administrative personnel. This page intentionally does not invent a self-service menu path that Army systems may change.

06What are the 2026 AFT standards?

The score tables active in 2026 were approved May 15, 2025 and became effective June 1, 2025. They cover the 3 Repetition Maximum Deadlift, Hand-Release Push-Up, Sprint-Drag-Carry, Plank, and Two-Mile Run. General scoring requires at least 60 points in every event and 300 total; Combat requires at least 60 in every event and 350 total. Army Directive 2026-07 updated the combat-specialty list to 24 specialties. “2026 standards” means the current official framework used in 2026; it does not mean a new numeric table was issued in 2026.

07How do army fitness test scores work?

Each raw performance is compared with the official row thresholds for one age group and scoring column. More weight, more correct push-ups, and a longer plank improve those event scores; faster Sprint-Drag-Carry and Two-Mile Run times improve theirs. The highest qualifying published row supplies the points, up to 100. Printed dashes mean that a particular point-and-group combination is unavailable, not zero. The five event points are added only after every valid result is present. Passing still depends on both the applicable total minimum and at least 60 points in each event.

08Is the AFT test different for women or older soldiers?

The five primary events stay the same, but the applicable scoring column can change. Under the General standard, scores are normed by age and sex, so women and soldiers in different published age groups may have different raw-performance thresholds for the same points. The Combat standard is sex-neutral but remains age-normed and uses the M/C column. The official table labels its final age band “Over 62”; it does not explicitly place exact age 62 in that heading. This calculator reproduces the published groups and directs an exactly 62-year-old user to confirm official guidance rather than guessing.
